Calm beyond the chaos
Rosemary's work with our family has given us hope for a better future. She has helped restore calm to what could only be considered chaos. My time spent with Rosemary has been invaluable in providing me with the information and tools l need, as l provide support for my nephew. When I first met Rosemary, I was consumed...Consumed by the behaviour of my loved one in addiction..Consumed by the emotions, the anger, the fear of what might be, the fear of the physical decline addiction would have on my loved one..
Since working with Rosemary she has helped me to identify my feelings, where they come from and why. I have been able to remove those things from my immediate being and not carry them around with me constantly...I am able to have some energy and focus for myself now that I have learnt that I actually cannot fix or force my loved one to change his lifestyle...He has to want to...Nor am I responsible...

Life has changed since I have been working with Rosemary...
"Alcohol destroyed my family, I lost so much, and it was not even me that was drinking. You think when your kids grow up that they will have their own life and you will get to enjoy your grand kids. My daughter had may problems in her life and after she was married and had kids alcohol became a big problem, along with the depression. Her husband was so angry with her, he lived in fear of something happening to the kids, I defended her and made excuses for her. My husband did not want anything to do with it and as time went on things got worse. It took a horrible event for me to realise that alcohol really was a problem in my daughters’ life, by this time her marriage was nearly gone and so was mine, the constant arguing, the blaming and the resentment took its toll. Rosemary was recommended as a good person to talk to, so I made an appointment. Life has changed since I’ve been working with Rosemary, I am better and not so stressed. When I look back on those times, I see how alcohol and dependency can wreak the lives of everyone, not just the person who is drinking."

I never really felt others understood...
Living in Domestic Violence has been hard, I never really felt others understood, as all they focused on was me leaving and getting out. I had no where to go and did not want to leave, I just wanted the violence to stop. When I first met Rosemary, she listened to my story and she understood, she did not talk about leaving as being the only solution. Rosemary worked with me and later my partner to help us both recognise what we wanted for us and our kids. The biggest thing we learnt was how to talk to each other without everything turning into a I’m right you are wrong fight. We are both continuing to learn, and we stay in touch with Rosemary when we think it will help. - JTS
